I think my graphics card died, I am having some white squares all over the place and it is crashing so its probably graphics or power supply. This was built in 2014 and still runs most things, but I'd rather see if I could get away with a few new parts than scratch the entire system. Or do I need to get a new motherboard too? Thanks!

You could go the cost effective route, and try get an i7 4770k and a new GPU. Something like a GTX1070/ti Vega 56. The system still has some gaming chops. A 4c/8t CPU will give you another year or so with high settings at 1080p. For 144hz at 1080p or above you really need a new system.

Something like this from Intel will give you top gaming performance at 1080p 144hz/1440p 60hz plus with Ultra settings:

What about just changing out the graphics card? I have it all wired up and would rather not mess with it. Whats a great upgrade for the graphics that still works with this system? Thanks Keith and anyone else that wants to chime in!

Any GPU will work. If you want to stay at 1080p, anything from a 1060 6GB to a 1080 GTX. Depends what you want to spend and how long you want it to maintain high FPS.

You are due a CPU upgrade soon as your CPU lacks hyperthreading. You will notice some bottleneck from your CPU.

Thats what I'm looking for, what CPU and 1080TI card would work with this setup? In device manager there is an error with my graphics card so that seems to be the problem.

Thanks, but those don't seem to work with my motherboard on the compatability list or is it because they don't sell my board any longer?

Thanks for the tip, so to get this all up to date I would need a new CPU, board, RAM and graphics card? Would you mind getting me your best idea? I'd like a new graphics card that can do it all and i run 4 monitors on it. Would like to just use same case, PSU, fans, etc. above. I'd like it to last a few years so budget is flexible.

That one looks good, but out of stock I need to overnight this stuff! - EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 XC Gaming, 8GB GDDR6, Dual HDB Fans & RGB LED Graphics Card 08G-P4-2172-K

I would personally get the 9700k CPU if I was building a PC right now.

The recommendations above would be ok as,well. I would lean towards an Intel CPU and I like the 9700k over the 8700k

That looks pretty solid, I'm trying to get this all together in amazon and overnight it. Checking the parts picker and I can't get that to work with my case, am I doing something wrong? Old fans etc. ok with that stuff? Thanks buddy!

Thanks, stupid question: think a 4 year old artic silver tube stored in attic will be good for new chip or get new?

Also, if I just plug in my old hard drives it will run that operating system and be good to go right?
