Gigabyte EP45-UD3P
Intel Core 2 DUO (E7500) 2.93 GHz
G.Skill 8GB (2GBx4) 1066 MHz PC2-8500 DDR2
CORSAIR 400W PS
MSI ATI Radeon HD6450 1 GB DDR3
Samsung SSD
Win 10 64 bit
Used for Word Excel Access, web browsing, works just fine, but I am concerned about the age of the MB and processor
How should I upgrade/modernize or should I do nothing

If it works for you as is, leave it.

Any "upgrade" to that parts list is a whole new PC.

Take a look at the innards see if it's loaded with dust and crude.
If it is a like cleanup work.
If not run it.

I am guessing you are concerned with the latest softwares not supported on that platform anymore ?

If its a complete new system that you are looking to build, i would get something like this to last you a long time:

If it works well, change nothing.

If your browsing involves the use of many Chrome tabs, that can put a load on ram.
Upgrading to 16gb might be in order.
To see how well your ram is doing.....
Activate task manager/resource monitor/memory tab/hard page fault column.
Any activity more than zero indicates you can use more ram.
