K Smart arses.. AMD 1.7 runnin normal at 1.47. " Im still scratchin my head on that one" MOBO- Epox 8kha+ VIA KT266A. Win ME. FSB 266. 512 PC2100 DDR. What can I do to at least break 1.5 Mhz ??

We guess you mean you have and Athlon 1700+ which is supposed to operate
at 1466Mhz. I believe you are confused with the numbering of the AMD
Cpu. You could increase your fsb to 137 and that would put you to
1500Mhz. Experiment with the fsb and increase slowly to see where it will
operate stable at. This will also increase your memory, pci cards, etc. so
remember you are also stressing those components.

Weel you must be refering to the Athlon XP1700+ processor which operates at 1.47 GHz. Its the Pentim(4) Relative rating used by AMD to indicate the performance of their XP processors with respect to Intel Pentium4s, and that means the AthlonXP1700+ you have performs better than Intel Pentium4 1.7 GHz!!!

Read the <A HREF="http://athlonxp.amd.com/technicalInformation/benchmarkingModelNumbering.jsp" target="_new">Official XP rating information here</A>

the Epox 8KHA+ is a pretty good overclocking board. you can pretty easily increase the FSB to 140 MHz pretty easily which will enable you to run the processor at 1540 MHz. just watch the temperatures, staty less than 45~50°C.

If you can, unlock the multiplier of the processor (there are many guides available on the net, and a good video about how to do it made by tomshadrware itself) so that you can get the processor to oc better.

In BIOS just jump FSB too 140.. any other have to be changed with it??
I just checked..I dont get the option to cahnge the FSB frequency. Its stuck at 133. How do I change it now?

check your motherboard manual, it must supports changing the FSB either through BIOS or a set of jumpers or DIP switches on the motherboard.

you cannot change the multiplier without unlocking the CPU, so all you can do is to change the FSB. 140 Mhz is pretty conservative setting for overclocking the XP1700+, just check your mobo manual how to go about it.

The Epox site says you can increase the FSB upto 200 MHz from BIOS. Check the manual. If possible, update the BIOS with the latest version.
