Mainly for gaming (aiming for 144+ fps in competitive games and 60+ in heavier games), browsing and occasional workload (e.g. Microsoft access, word, etc)

I'll wait until Ryzen 2.0 benchmarks then I'll see.

So I guess you're ok with lowering graphics settings? Because a lower-end CPU with a faster GPU would really up overall performance, but at the very highest end I'm not sure it would always keep 144fps minimums. Also how attached are you to the specific motherboard?

Yeah, im more than happy to lower settings (1070 prices here in Aus are still quite high) . I've only been attached to that motherboard as it's one of the better ones in its price range at $219 aud. Also should I get the 8600k or i7 8700?

Looking at that motherboard more I think it's actually pretty good, I guess I had a few versions mixed up. And I'd say the 8600k is better for you if you're gaming. Only tons of video editing or rendering would be worth the threads for the price of the 8700.
