The motherboard uses a much older 760G chipset . The SATA ports are too slow for an SSD [but fine for a hard drive] , the power profiles of the cpu are limited and overclocking potential limited .

It works though, and is good value for that price range .

How about the ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard? Any suggestions for a different motherboard?

The extreme 3 is OK and will let you overclock a bit . You definitely want a 970 or 990 chip set . These are the ones designed to work with FX processors .
