Thanks in advance. I was given a HP 15 that would not turn on. Power pressed and nothing happens, no lights and no beeps. The owner took it to a tech repair and they said it was likely a motherboard issue. They wanted to charge 400 for the attempted repair. She opted to buy a new computer and gave me the old one and the charger.

The charger is fine, as I tried it on her new hp 15. I reseated the ram and hd, volt tested the battery, and inspected the power button. Put everything back together and there was no change. I have been tying to find a motherboard that I could install and get a functioning hp for 250 or so. The old motherboard is a DA0P5HMB8H1 REV : H. I've struggled to find a REV H, but one popped up on ebay recently. Its number is DAOP5HMB8H0 REV : H.

Are these two boards compatible even though one ends in a 1 and the other 0? DA0P5HMB8H1 REV : H & DAOP5HMB8H0 REV : H
Would I nee d to buy a new OS license if they are compatible?

I do not know a lot about computers but Im really good at finding things to fix. The ebay board costs 230. Im not looking to buy a new computer but if I can fix this one for 230, Im good with that. Is this even worth attempting? Any clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This is definitely me just farting around with a piece of tech. It would be a newer laptop than my current functional one. But if it doesn’t work, no biggie.

And no it’s not that model, this is the exact one I was referring to with the last digit being different

Its got a 30 day warranty and the seller seems legit. Either way I dont need it. Ive just been looking for the REV H model for 2 months and this is the first one i have seen. thanks for the repy

I may have been wrong. That link has two different board pictures. The description indicates that is is the correct model. But they did not specify the REV. I emailed them to ask what it is. Im still trying to figure out what the diff between the board I have and the one Im looking at. I may have to try talking to HP tech support. Thanks
