Laptop is like the title says, HP 15-dw0083wm Scarlet Red from Wallyworld. PC was a bit on the slow side so I thought I would add another 4Gb stick of matching RAM to possibly give it more breath. I opened the case after watching a video of a similar model, once I opened it up I realized I only had one RAM slot. I should have immediately reversed the plan, reassembled and ordered an 8Gb stick but I didn't. Instead, I removed the old stick, put in the new, reassembled and now I dont get anything. Oh, I failed to mention that upon opening the case, I noticed that there isnt a fan. Mind you, the processor is a Pentium N5030, and the HDD is solid state so it doesn't make noise in normal operation. I found that odd when I turned it on for the first time after purchase. I also see that there is no mobo speaker.
Into the issue. I've watched quite a few videos but still havent found one that shows the exact mobo configuration I have and involved the same issue. I can't find a CMOS batt. The battery for this is enclosed under the shell so technically its "non-removable" unless you brave disassembly and warranty voiding. The suggestions from the videos have been things like, holding the power button for certain lengths of time then trying to start, pressing the windows key and another key and at the same time pressing power, removing the battery for a certain length of time... Nothing I've tried works. I wonder if someone thought ahead of me and figured out how to do a CMOS/BIOS reset on one of these models before they tried to replace a RAM chip. I am using my work computer to chat in the forum. I have no idea what to do. Could anyone help?
Thanks in advance.
