We have had EIGHT of the HP1955 flat panel display 'die' with smells of smoke and no picture. All purchased within two months of each other.
Are there any known flaws/defects with a run of production serial numbers? Recalls? class action suits ?

Thanks

Your contract is with the dealer who sold them (any warranty is in addition to normal rights).

There have been failures in Chinese made flatscreens due to faulty capacitors in the power supply board -- whether this applies to HP I don't know. In those instances repair parts were cheap and the repair straightforward.

There's currently a class action gathering against HP on laptops -- I'd Google that and contact the lawyers, see if they've heard anything from screen owners.
