Question HP 280 G2 MT- Graphics card to pair with an i5 6500

Hi,
My HP 280 G2 MT is having an i5 6500 coupled with 12 GB of RAM. The graphics card is an MSI GTX 1050ti single fan. I would like to upgrade the Gfx to something better. A thing to keep in mind, is that the space within the CPU cabinet is not a lot. Hence a single fan design would be preferred. Please share your valuable opinions

There are some, however, what PSU you have in there? Make and model (or part number)? Since PSU defines what GPU you can go for.

This will be greatly determined by the power supply. Can you share the detailed specs of the power supply? I do not see it on HP's website. Tell us what the sticker says. How many Amps on the +12V rail?

The PSU is an Antec VP 500P.
It produces 38 amps on the 12V rail.

Oof, that's not a good one. If you're not planning on replacing the PSU, a 1050 Ti is pretty much the logical endpoint.

It's a shame Nvidia hasn't replaced the 1050 Ti with a newer, faster low powered card.

That's low quality unit and PSU replacement is also in order.

Here, look towards good quality Seasonic Focus or Corsair RM/RMi/RMx,

And once you have better PSU, you can look towards better GPU. For i5-6500, GTX 1660 Ti is tops for 1080p,

i have similar system.

my question is why do you need the upgrade? i cant play 2022 AAA titles at ultra 1080p, but i dont care. but the recommendation of a new psu is warrented.

You are correct. The 16 series [virtually] doesn't exist to me.
