Hello, I've HP Probook 4540s, SSD 500G, was making boot in 15 second, all are fast, but because of using graphics software I had to upgrade.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3230M CPU @ 2.60GHz
Memory Type DDR3
Memory Size 6 GBytes
Channels Dual
Memory Frequency 665.1 MHz (1:5)

I've made an upgrade to
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3740QM CPU @ 2.70GHz
Memory Type DDR3
Memory Size 12 GBytes
Channels Dual
Memory Frequency 664.9 MHz (1:5)

now the laptop became VERY slow in boot, extremely slow in using in general or browsing, takes too long to shutdown, very slow responding

any suggestions ?

Solution
Try a clean Windows setup, also make sure your BIOS is updated and it's not overheating. Since you swapped the CPU you may be running the system with too much heat and the CPU is throttling do prevent damage.
