Hi everyone im thinking about buying a hp 6305 for £50

It's specs are

CPU: AMD A4 5300B
RAM: DDR3 4GB
HDD: 260gb

Few questions
1) is that a good price

2) what is the 'B' at the end of the processor name, I [strike]no[/strike] know about K ect

3) is there any reason why I couldn't take the cpu out and put it in a better mb and case

4) what would I be able to upgrade the cpu  too if I wanted too

    ■ It is a not a horrible price but not a great price.■ AMD has only one suffix, "K" for overclocking as you mention. The "B" here refers to a new stepping (version) which could impact compatibility. The 5300B is almost exactly the same as the 5300. The A4-5300 APU seems to support DDR3 1866 while the 5300B does not. But I would not take this as entirely reliable.

You just have to make sure that this APU is supported by the new mobo. But why you would want to do this is a question, it is not exactly a stellar APU, you would be left with a bunch of parts of questionable value and the FM2 platform is...

FYI, you can buy a new one from Amazon UK for £30.

    There are four issues for CPU/APU upgrades that need to be considered:
    1) Does the mobo support the CPU/APU;
    2) Does the BIOS support the CPU/APU;
    3) Will the PSU have enough power to run the upgrade
    4) Will the installed ram be compatible with the CPU/APU

    The list of supported APU upgrades for this computer is found in this link, they are all "B" APU's, no "K" APU's are supported.

    Best upgrade would be the A10-5800B (PN AD580BWOA44HJ), it is significantly faster than the A4-5300B (PN AD530BOKA23HJ). But it is a 100W APU versus the 65W 5300B, not 100% sure if the aging PSU in this computer would take the power increase. And forget about upgrading the PSU, non-standard proprietary form factor (shape and connectors). The A8-5500B (AD550BOKA44HJ) is significantly faster as well, is a 65W, has more cores and better integrated graphics.
