So I recently got a HP 6550b from my uncles company for free. I've already researched a lot on it and I'm quite confused not really working with laptops to much. (I'm a desktop kinda person). I basically want to upgrade this thing to be a decent gaming computer that I can use on the travel or to give to friends while I use my main desktop.
From what I understand I will obviously need to upgrade the CPU. Now I used CPU-Z and it say its a Socket 989 rPGA . Now from looking at CPU-world and Wiki it says " Socket G1, also known as rPGA 988A (there are Socket G/rPGA 989 sockets that can take Socket G1/rPGA 988A or Socket G2/rPGA 988B packaged processors) " so In theory I could put in either of those socket types.
Going through cpu-world list of compatible processors It says that a Intel Core i7-3940XM Mobile Extreme Edition can be put into it. I would like to know if this is true or not. If not what would be the best possible processor I could put into this thing. (Sorry for not having any specs on it its currently being factory reset)
