Question HP 717372-003 EliteDesk 800 G1 Pentium compatible?

I was wondering if the HP 717372-003 EliteDesk 800 G1 motherboard was compatible with the Pentium G3258. The motherboard is LGA1150, but Hp's website states that it comes with an i5 or i7. Not sure if the BIOS is locked to only take an i5 or i7 processor. This board is for an upcoming Linux build.

There is a manual here, but it states nothing about a CPU installment guide.

Given how the processor socket is compatible but the lack of any information in the manual would indicate two things;
1| It's not supported by the motherboard's BIOS which means your're either going to see limited functionality or instability.
2| It is supported but they just never mentioned it in the manual or their product briefing because people buying said EliteDesk prebuilt would need processing power.

Since it doesn't cost much, you could drop in a 4th gen Intel processor(not a G3258) and then make sure the BIOS is up to date, then drop the G3258 in and see if it works. You will need to get past the proprietary PSU/connectors on the board though...

Since I don't have a spare 4th gen CPU lying around, other than my Pentium g3258, and don't want to spend the extra money on another CPU, the Dell motherboard should be the best contender.

The information manual does states that i5, i3, Pentium and Celeron are compatible.

Also, the Dell motherboard has a power connector called HDD_ODD_PWR, next to the 8 pin ATX power connector. Is this necessary for the board to function, as my PSU does not have that connector type.

Edit: My PSU does not have the 8 pin that is needed for this motherboard, which I though it did. Any 24pin to 8 pin recommendations? Or should I just stick to a 24pin atx motherboard.
