I have an HP 812C printer connected to a machine running 98SE and
usually print from Works but the problem is the same whatever. Not
using USB.

I send a print job to the printer and I might as well go bake bread
cause this thing takes forever to complete.

Any ideas?

How about a bit more information. What takes a long time - waiting for the
printer to start printing or the actual printing? Does the carriage pause for
5-8 seconds at the end of every swath? Does it take many many swaths to print
a page? What kind of paper are you printing?

The printer works fine, no carrage pause nothing like that. Its the
amount of time before it begins to print. The delay is less after a
defrag but its nothing close to when I first installed the machine.
