HP 9500 12x8x32x

I bought this drive about two months ago. It ran fine with Adaptec v4 for a month, then it decided to stop being detected by the program. Now, neither Adaptec or Nero acknowledge that it is a CD-RW. But, since the drive works find with HP's software....HP won't do anything about it except tell me how to "better optomize my system". Does anyone have any ideas on how I could fix this problem?

May be a loose IDE cable - recheck.

I've plugged and replugged every cable and tried every combination of devices.

Mine worked in EZCD v.4.0 but as soon as I put the patches to go up to v.4.3 it was not seen as a recorder just as you said. that was last fall and i tried everything to get it back and nothing worked. uninstalling reinstalling. it has never been listed as Adatec compatible except for direct cd. HP tech support even tried to tell me it was. i explained to them that there knowledge was alittle meager and they never replied to me again. I eventually went to Nero because My CD is f'in terible. Nero works really well so you really do not need EZCD....
