HP 990 multiple pages

Every so often, the 990 goes on a rampage (no pun intended) and does
something strange. This time it is pulling extra photo paper through
as it gets to the end of a printed sheet. So I get a printed sheet
(which is sometimes almost pulled back in, though I do not have duplex
chosen) and then I need to press the resume button as it feeds 1 to 3
more blank sheets. So I guess I need help in fixing whatever pulls
sheets through. Also, the printer makes a very loud noise when it
grabs a sheet to start printing and shoots the sheets out like out of
a cannon at times.

On the HP site, I must not be entering the right key words to look
this up. Help please.

That's a common problem. I usually only feed one sheet at a time. In the
past when I've talked to HP support about it, they recommend using only HP
paper (imagine that!) and then blame it on humidity. That seems to be true
whether you're in Washington DC or Phoenix.

The design of paper handling mechanisms is known to be a nearly intractable
(pun intended) problem.
