what is the highest graphics card i can add to my pc??? i only need it for watching hd movies...but might has well put the best one my pc can handle...

according to HP, your machine is an AM2 socket athlon or sempron possibly dual core. This is a fairly weak chip by todays standards, and because of this, won't scale with a new modern graphics card. Besides, with HD theater what you want it for, it means you don't really need the mose cutting edge card. You can still get the latest gen series, just not the fastest model.

Take a look at the Radeon R7 240. I recently brought an HP a1747c home from the dump to fix up and give to one of my kids. Even though HP says it only takes a max of 4 gig of RAM, I was able to install 8 Gig of RAM without any issue. I also put in a new Radeon R7 240 graphics card in it and the performance is good. Running Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit. With this configuration, the Windows Experience Index for both Graphics and Gaming Graphics is 6.8 Details on Windows Experience Index below if interested:
