HP a6700y won't boot

My HP a6700y is about 4 years old and now it won't turn on. The fans turn on but there is nothing on the display. The power supply light is solid ON. I tried unplugging all the components individually - no difference. I unplugged all the RAM (4x1GB), then reinstalled each one individually - no difference. I spoke to one tech and he thought it might be the on-board graphics processor. I think I need a new motherboard but I'm not sure. Can someone help me diagnose further? Help!

Release date for that model was 11-Nov-2008. It is time to change the motherboard battery. (CR2032 Lithium)

I did verify all the connectors are secure. One other piece of info - if I remove all the memory and the do a cold reset, i get a series of "one short beep then one long beep". As soon as I put any memory in I get no beeps. Not sure if this is significant. Thanks.

yep that is its a boot error thing do it again and wriht down the number of short and long beeps and look it up
