Is there a difference between a HP CC09 and CA09 battery? The voltage, length, and docking all look the same. The only difference I can see is where the charge pins are, the CA has square edges and the CC has one square edge and one round edge and it appears the Laptop housing will take either square or round. However, I may have just seen a bad pic of the CC. (The pic of the CC had the one rounded edge at the pins). Part number 628666-001 and 718677-421. Thank you for your responce.

Solution
HP laptop model and version?

What physical battery specs?

What capacity and voltage is needed for the laptop battery?

The guiding documentation is the laptop's documentation and HP's website. Original part numbers are needed.

Match the original battery.

If the current laptop housing is CA (square edge, square edge) then that housing is likely to favor the use of either a CA or a CC battery.

A "CA laptop" (square edge, square edge) housing may accept a CA (square edge, square edge) laptop battery or a CC (square edge, round edge) laptop battery.

But not the reverse; aka trying to put the proverbial square peg into a round hole.

I put very little faith in images and specs posted by battery sellers - especially third party vendors.

"Compatible" is a word whose meaning is often stretched.....
