Hey all,

We have a bit of an older HP Beats edition AMD A10 laptop that my wife got in college. Thing's never exactly been a beast, however it worked up until suddenly it didn't. Boots up for about 2 minutes then thermal shutdown. I've taken it entirely apart, redone thermal paste, cleaned any area that could be clogged. The fan is running at max power, and it's actually blasting cool air out of the vent on the side. However, the CPU is sitting at idle 105C the second it turns on until it thermal shutdowns. Basically my question is, is it a faulty CPU or is the heatsink not transferring heat from the CPU out of the computer and instead just blasting cold air from it's own fan? Or is it something else entirely that I'm just not smart enough to realize? I would greatly appreciate any input anyone has. I can provide further specs if it helps in the diagnostics.

Solution
your laptop has two small heatsinks connected together with heatpipes, which transfer heat from cpu to air cooler, heatsink sits properly? try touch it if cpu is is hot while cooler side is cold, then your heatpipes stopped working and should be replaced

I was kinda thinking it was the heatpipes honestly, because from what I've researched on my own that seems to be common. Unfortunately seems that they aren't the easiest to get their hands on however. I'll give it a check! Thanks!
