Does anyone know the expected life of HP inkjet inks?
I have a Deskjet 720c that is, of course, several years old.
The last color cartridge (C1823D) that I installed (in March 2002) was
expired (April 2001) by the time of installation but it worked fine.
I can't remember when the quality started to change.
I haven't been printing much lately, because the black ran out and I
couldn't afford to replace it until now. Any time I printed text, I
changed the color to blue; it worked fine.
I decided to change the color cartridge when I changed the black. I
only had the second expired cartridge so I installed it. The yellow
ink is not printing. I cleaned the print heads twice (including the
"prime" feature) but still no yellow (and therefore, no green).
I re-installed the old cartridge, but it too does not print yellow.
Is it likely that the age of the ink caused the failure?
