hp compaq 6200 for gaming

I have HP compaq 6200 pro microtower pc (i5-2400, 8GB RAM, 500GB SATA HDD, MSI GT240, Creative x-fi titanium) used for my daily works like documents, photoshop and as entertainment pc.

Bought Notebook for same purpose so, now want to convert it for casual gaming and have ordered evga gtx750ti (due to low power requirement). hp's 320w 90% efficient psu should handle the load, am hoping.

pls suggest for other decent components i may need to replace in order to be able to play upcoming new games (i do play GTAs, skyrim, nfs etc but to first person shooter). dont have to be in high or ultra setting. am also looking to install watercooling if needed as present stock heatsink not allowing me to install bigger graphc card.

I'd get a new PSU asap, HP's PSU's are absolutely horrible.

Hmm, never thought about the case, you may just have to stick with the one you have but if you plan on upgrading in the future I'd just get a brand new computer (maybe even build one yourself with the 750ti etc)

You Hp 320 watt PSU should be able to run a 750ti , they don't draw much power.

HP Cases tend to be smaller with smaller PSU's and I'm sure you probably will need a higher watt PSU, what I suggest is getting a new case and transferring your parts across and get a new CPU.

i am planning to upgrade my whole system gradually (one or two at a time) as where i live parts are very expensive and most time not available at all. had to order 750ti from amazon for $149 but had to pay $200 and been waiting for 25 days, still not arrived.

750ti says require only 65w ... planning to trial and learn with little inexpensive parts to build complete gaming pc on my own later.

what i got from you link post, theres a possibility of card not working due to powercap in pcie from manufacture. then i will have to get a new motherboard. any suggestion for moderate gaming motherboard from asus or msi from i5-2400 cpu which i can use it for later build.

but the only way for you to know for sure is get the card plug it in cross fingers and turn it on and see if it posts

in the begining, i was onto your suggestion but had to give up idea after finding not a single part could be transfered to new case because of their design, propriotery, i think. (damn HP). well... glad that card worked at the end.

You could (potentially) buy a whole new case and transfer all the parts across 😛 The only thing I'm worried about for your circumstances is the heat that the GPU will generate in such a small case.
