how can i overclock my processor??? bios is locked. i have 2.5 ghz pentium dual core e5200 5gb ram ddr2 2gb*2 800 bus 1gb 667 bus,
i am having another problem when trying to put in another ram, 1gb 667 it beeps and gives red light, but the ram is ok it works fine alone and even in combination with other 3 rams, but when i put any ram in the 4th slot it beeps. Thanks in advance.

Overclocking OEM systems, like yours, is next to impossible so I don't recommend you wasting any time trying to do so. The BIOS simply doesn't allow you the needed level of access.

Regarding the memory, try installing the slower memory in the lowest number slots. BTW, are both 1GB DIMMs the same make/model or are they different?

Also, are you running 32-bit or 64-bit Windows?

64 bit windows 8, and i will try that. is it possible that the 4th slot might be damaged ?

so will it be a problem in the future or not??? and yes thanks a lot for replies. i would also like to learn overclocking if you can provide me with some good links to read stuff about it, and what motherboard upgrade you suggest so that i can overclock,

Spec your brand is not able to do anything, even though the motherboard replaced Ocable, besides that, you still need a good PSU + RAM + cpu cooler, essentially all the Pc that you have is still good for things such as work daily to office, browsing, photoshop and others, which do not require big size hardware such as latest modern game etc

Go here for some OC guides: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/forum-29.html

For your current rig, if just the single memory slot is defective, you can continue to use the others until you are ready to upgrade your rig.

For recommendations on what components you might use in the upgraded rig, you should start a new thread in the Systems forum. Be sure to list a budget for best results.

Good luck!
