HP Compaq NX7400 notebook - blank screen

Hello!

My HP Compaq NX7400 notebook shows only the hp logo and then the screen goes black/blank. Windows xp boots regularly, I can hear the sound and if I attach the vga cable on the back I can use the computer. The screen is black even if I go in the bios. When I halt the windows system by pressing the on/off button one time I can see for a fraction of second the desktop. The same happens if I push and release the little pin that detects if the lid is open/closed... anyway the screen continue to be black. Is there a solution to this problem?

It sounds like a bad inverter. They are pretty easy to replace if you want to go that route. Just do a google search for your laptop model/inverter and you should be good to go.
