A backwards step for HP and yet a step in the right direction for everyone. Mega corps just need to do the right thing in the first place rather than trying out these anti-consumer practices that just end up being costly mistakes.

Yep, used to be the go-to for home printers, but then again, the marketplace wasn't that competitive back in the 90's-2000's.

HP really is in a slump as a company. The incredible engineering legacy they used to have is crying in the grave. The only way to turn the company around is probably to get into pay to win mobile games.

HP has discontinued its cheaper e-series printers, which required an HP+ subscription and Internet connection to stay active in exchange for lower pricing.

My old Epson 5 cartridge printer was an expensive ink hog. These days I am not printing massive color pages. For the past few years I get away with a MFC-L59000DW monochrome printer.

All HP networked printers that I interacted in the last decade had been trash, even the laser ones.

The first print works, but the second gets stuck. The printers claim that it needs "user intervention" for no reason at all. It refuses to clear the printer spooler. It refuses to restart. It's necessary to unplug the power and restart it manually. The driver stops finding the printer on the network, and the only solution is to reinstall the driver. The printer goes to sleep, and never wakes again, and so and so...

An absolute hell.

Where is it written that printer profits must increase every year when printing is declining and the quality of printers has not improved over the past 10 years? NOWHERE. During these last 10 years, as innovation and value-for-money stagnated in the home / small office printing business, HP has literally turned its customers upside down to shake the money out of their pockets, more, more, more every year!! Executive bonuses MUST go up at HP, we need MORE MORE MORE money, and we NEED IT NOW!

After buying HP inkjets all my life (The deskjet 500 (inkjet) in 1986, then 85xj in 1998, then 8600 in 2012), I decided the company wasn't serious about wanting business any more after my HP 8600 printer failed in 2018. I've been using Epson continuous ink printers ever since !!!

I have an Epson ET-2800 Series and I buy ink from one specific source (can't remember the name at the moment ) that is TONS cheaper than buying Epson ink. Color is awesome and no issues with anything. I homeschool, so I print A LOT plus I make a lot scrapbook paper designs. It's a tank printer and I hurt myself trying to empty the tanks and it still took forever. MFC is that Epson? I think I had one of those that was an all in one fax copy scan print. I LOVED it ... May still have it stored. ---heads out to the storage building with a flash light.

I've got an Epsom ET 2800 series tank printer and sucky internet. The signal drops a lot and until I connected the printer to my PC with the cable, it wouldn't automatically find the signal. I have NO idea if it would make the first bit of difference with your issue, but it's worked well for my finding the wifi issue. (Oddly enough, there don't seem to be any downloaded/downloadable drivers for my OS {Windows 11} ).

Exactly what I did. Epson: Almost $100.00 for 5 large tank cartridges that don't last. Don't need a color printer. 59000 being mono is blazing fast a the ink has lasted a very long time.

I had to use an Epson ecotank, 5 years ago, but it required frequent cleaning, and the cleaning process unplugged the ink pipes in multiple occasions, flooding the office with ink. It was a disaster.
