Question HP EliteBook 8470p CPU UPGRADE

Hello, I want to update the processor of my old laptop and I found that this i7-3740QM processor was the best compatible on this page

I even found pages where they sell the same laptop with this processor

The problem is that the manual says that it is not compatible with this processor and that is what confuses me, could you give me a hand with this please

none of those are HP page. they are all 3rd party. so while it might work, not officially HP supported

I've successfully upgraded the CPU of my 8470p to i7-3840QM

So it works as charm!

I have an HP Elitebook 8470p that came with an i7 3720qm. I am fairly sure this laptop came configured like this from the factory so it works just fine.

While it is likely the 3740QM also would work, I cannot say with certainty.

Do beware that this system was offered with 2 different motherboards, one with a Radeon on board, and then a different version without the Radeon or even the spot for it to go. I am not sure if both boards have the same CPU support. Mine just has the Intel HD without the optionally Radeon.
