These are the relevant specs of my laptop:

4th generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4712HQ Quad Core Processor +4GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M Graphics
8GB DDR3L System Memory (1 Dimm)
750GB 5400RPM Fixed
15.6 inch LED FHD SVA BrightView slim

I would like to be able to play the Battlefied series, Elder Scrolls Online, and The Division on at least medium settings. Of course playing on high at 30 FPS would be great too. So should I purchase this laptop for $800 or buy a PS4 instead?

Thank you for your assistance

Quite simply, if your looking for a gaming device your looking at the wrong laptop, and your making the wrong comparison. $800 laptop against a $400 console, entirely different items at entirely different pricepoints, apples to oranges.
If your fine with a console, your fine with a desktop, which is where $800 can really stretch into some gaming horsepower.

Oh yeah that would make sense but I forgot some crucial info. I'm planning on using it for school and since I'll be traveling a bit, it would be useful to have both a gaming platform and a computer on the go.
