HP Envy m7 laptop sluggish or lags when plugged in

Hello! I postd this yesterday but I cannot find the post so I will try again.

I have an HP Envy m7-k211dx
Windows 10, i7, 12mb RAM, 250GB SSD

This laptop is slow/sluggish/lags when it is plugged in. When unplugged the laptop works beautifully. I have also notice that when plugged in video is sluggish and the audio crackles. My system temps seem ok at ~50c or less depending on the app used to monitor temps. I had the hard drive upgraded to an SSD before I figured out it runs great when unplugged. I just tried a new/different battery and it didn't help. I have the OE charger plus a Targus charger that is rated the same....it happens with both chargers.

I would appreciate any help.

1. Go into "Control Panel" and click the "Power Options".
2. Next to the plan that is currently selected click "Change Plan Settings".
3. Now click "Change Advanced Power Settings".
4. Now in here check all the options (yes I mean all) to make sure nothing is set to give you less power and resources when plugged in and charging.
5. When you have made all your changes click "Apply" and then click "OK".
6. Now restart the computer and you should be good.

If that doesn't fix the issue, you may want to test your charger. Either connect it to another device or try another charger on your device. If the charger is starting to have problems, it could cause this as it is not putting out enough power to both charge the laptop and run it. Well not completely at least. If it is that, over time it will stop charging and running it at all, then you would definitely have to replace the charger. Best to test now.

Thank you for responding webworkings. I went in and reviewed all of these. The only one I changed was Intel Graphics Settings/Power Plan. I switched it from Balanced to Maximum Performance. I had previously adjusted some of the others to no avail. I will report back in a week or so.....Thanks again.

I had a computer professional look at it almost a year ago, however that was before I realized it happened while it is plugged in. At that time I could perform a Windows Refresh or Reset and it would work great for a few weeks and then resort to being sluggish. We put an SSD in it and fresh install of Win10 at that time but the result was the same. I haven't done a reset or refresh since. I was beginning to think that maybe there was an update that was messing with it, but I just don't know.
