I recently bought a PC , and it's liquid cooled. In the first day , I added 2 hard drives and that's the only time I've opened the side panel. Earlier today , the fan that's on the radiator has become very loud. I've only had this PC for about a week. The noise never stops , and after a while (about an hour of use) it becomes even louder. I turned it off after that just in case. I haven't have an performance issues , and the CPU isn't warm.

I really like mine so far. Mine has a i7-4790K and a GTX 960. I'm not sure if you have the 4790 or 4790K , but mine does some overclocking because this PC is water cooled. The system doesn't get very loud (If you don't run into the same problem as me) I can't take pictures , but it looks really cool with my red backlit keyboard and mouse. Its a system that you can keep turned on all the time (If you are okay with the power bills) I didn't say in this post that later the system became loud again. I managed to get into the BIOS/UEFI and reboot the PC and It wasn't loud anymore... Also - I bought mine on June 26 , and It said it would ship on the 6th of July. I received the PC on Saturday , and they never told me about when it shipped or not , but I received much earlier than I thought

I have an earlier version, the Envy Phoenix 810-400na, with a normal i7-4790 CPU cooler and a GTX770 graphics card. I too found the the PC was quite loud after start-up, with the case fan being the reason. It goes at full speed as soon as you turn on the PC, and stays like that. I found that if I added a 5 second boot delay in BIOS, the case fan came on at normal speed and doesn't go any higher, no matter how many times you turn the PC off and on. Then the PC is relatively quiet. Have you upgraded to Windows 10 yet? And if so have you had any problems?

I haven't downloaded it on the Phoenix 850 yet. Had to send her back for repairs. Turns out something is wrong with the pump (sounds like air bubbles or a bad bearing) gargles something awful. I should have it back by next friday. However, I did download Win 10 on my other machine. Cortana is pretty helpful, the UI is clean and snappy, also I rendered a video last night which seemed a bit faster than Win 8.1 but nothing to write home about.

Thanks for that. If possible, can you let me know how you get on if you decide to install Windows 10 on the Phoenix? It should go all smoothly, but I do wonder if I will have to update anything first. Thanks.

Glad the upgrade to Windows 10 went well. I thought you would have to update printer drivers, etc, and have compatibilty issues with software. But all seems well. Thanks for your reply. I'll look at upgrading in the coming months.

Well , I didn't have to install or update any new drivers. At least for the stuff I have. I don't use a printer and other devices such as that one. I'm not exactly sure if you still have to update those , as I don't have them

That's good news. At least if you need to use a printer, you will be able to install if fresh to your new operating system. Good luck. Thanks for the info. I'm going to wait until after the summer, once any bugs will have been ironed out, then I'll go for it! Cheers.

I ordered the Envy Phoenix 810-430qe CTO with Intel i7-4790K processor back in June and after the first week it started making this noise which sounded like a loose screw rattling, definately wasn't a fan noise. From the moment the pc turned on the noise started and never let off. I sent it back to HP and got a brand new one. I've had this 2nd one a little over a month and the exact same thing is happening. It's not the fan, in fact I've NEVER heard the fan at all on either of the pcs. I pinpointed the noise to the processor area where there is a water coolant wire. I believe it is air bubbles/gargling like you said. This disappoints me deeply. I am very happy with the performance and features of this pc (by the way I do have Windows 10 installed on it and it works like a dream). But this noise... it gets under your skin and in no way should a brand new $1,000 desktop be doing this. I WISH it was a fan! I'd rather hear a quiet fan over this constant irritating rattling.

I got an ENVY about a month ago (specs below) and after about two weeks I've started to experience all of the above. The noise is unbearable and will drive you crazy. I don't know if we're the unlucky few with bad machines or if this is across the board but anyone purchasing this computer should seriously think twice. THIS IS LOUD from the minute it turns on

I recorded it and put it on YouTube - https://youtu.be/QEy0XKrm60Q

I'm working with HP support to hopefully get a solution but from the looks of this thread it just seems like they cut corners and used a cheap cooling system. I'm trying very very hard to not detest HP right now.

Just seen the vid. That is terrible fron a liquid cooler. Something definitely wrong there. It seems that something is wearing out very quickly. Could even be something as simple as a mounting screw that has come loose. Return the PC for an exchange, as that is faulty. If the next one does it, then go for yet another exchange, or money back. No point in going through the same routine if there is an inherent fault with those machines. I was fortunate, as mine is air-cooled. Had that been mine I would have been rightfully annoyed like yourself. Please post back and let us know how you get on. Good luck.
