I planned on buying the HP Envy 15-Q004TX 15" and everything looks good except that I've seen a LOT of complaints about the touchpad glitching up. Is it really that bad? Should I consider getting a different laptop instead, and if so, any recommendations that are similar?

The touchpad complaints are the only thing that are making me hesitant to buy this laptop as everything else seems good.

People who have experienced the touchpad issues are generally those who are using the natively installed touchpad drivers. Installing the latest Synaptics touchpad drivers generally cures the issue. I have two Envy laptops and had issues out of the box but have never had an issue after installing the updated drivers.

Also, I don't know about you, but personally I think pretty much ALL touchpads suck. I highly recommend using a mouse anyhow. It's far more efficient and in those instances when it's not possible to use a mouse, the touchpad will suffice.

Thank you for answering. I think I'll buy the Envy. If it starts acting up and I can't fix it by installing the latest driver I'll probably return it and just get a different one. How do I install the latest driver? Do I find it online or do I update it from an option on the computer or something?

I used to hate touchpads but I've gotten really used to it on my current laptop. I'll hopefully be fine with it as long as I can permanently fix the glitching if it happens.
