I'm trying to upgrade the hard drive in my HP Envy x360 15-w103na to a SSD. I've done SSD upgrades before so I didn't think I would have a problem.
I took the SSD, which is a Crucial bx100 250GB, out of my old laptop, formatted it and put it in my new one, changed the boot order to USB so i could get a fresh windows 10 install on it, the USB boots fine and the start of the windows 10 install starts, however when I get to the drive selection the SSD does not appear, nothing does.
I've looked through the BIOS and cannot find any way to see if the laptop is recognising the SSD, however if I try to boot into the SSD I get an error message "Smart Hard Disk Error 301". Did some googling on the issue and found that I should run the "HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI". upon doing so it says "No hard drive installed". From what my knowledge you can only get the Smart Hard Disk Error if you have a drive installed, so the laptop recognises the drive but then doesn't?
Edit: Should also say that I put the SSD back in my old laptop and re-installed windows on that and it works fine, so I know the drive isn't the issue here
