Hi, i have a G72 hp laptop with a dead gpu chip and a black screen of death. I had the gpu chip reflowed successfully a couple of months ago and now it is dead again cause it is temporary fix anyway. I've researched the internet for alternative fixes and i stumbled across on a video from youtube in which the problem is solved by removing the gpu voltage regulator from the motherboard and instead, using the cpu's intel hd graphics (if it has). So my question is, has anyone done it and worked or are there any other possible fixes to switch to cpu graphics without removing gpu voltage regulator?

Yeah done it many times, what is the exact model? You cant obviously do much gaming anymore on the laptop since its older intel hd graphics but its fine for other use.

Yes i dont want to game just basic use. G72-120ev is the exact model and the cpu is an i3-330m which according to intel it has intergraded graphics.
Also, is this dark grey rectangular thing the voltage regulator which i need to remove? (see red arrow)

Your absolutely sure its exactly this motherboard shown on that picture? Double check it reads DA0AX1MB6F1 REV:F like on that pic on your motherboard
