HP Joshua motherboard and a hyper 212 evo cpu cooler fitting. problems !!!

Just a quick question, has anyone managed to fit cooler master 212 evo cpu cooler to a HP Custom motherboard code named Joshua.

Why is it always the same when it comes to pre built systems from HP and alike where they do something completely non standard.

To cut a long story short I bought a 212 Evo cpu cooler to fit a cpu socket 1155/H2
And upgraded the cpu from an I3 to an I5 chip.

Followed the Instructions, and low and behold the cooler will not fit, or clamp to the motherboard due to how HP have designed the rear support bracket on the motherboard.

If you remove the old back plate the top side of the cpu socket can not be secured by the three screws used for the cpu socket locking cap and retention arm.

Any suggestions ?

That motherboard looks pretty standard to me. Can you provide some pics illustrating the problem?

The problem is due to the shape of the support plate on the back of the motherboard.
The evo 212 cpu support bracket will not fit over the existing plate because it is raised, and not a simple flat plate of about 1mm thick.

There are two ways to install the back support plate that comes with the evo 212 cpu cooler.
One for amd cpu sockets, and one way for intel cpus . The evo retention back plate is fitted with the four outer most green pads facing the back side of the motherboard.

The three screws you see looking at the cpu socket side keep the locking cap, with the retention arm lined up in the cpu socket then clamp down on to the cpu. But if you remove the old back plate so you can fit the new evo back motherboard cpu support plate.

The three screws on the cpu socket clamp mechanism have no way of threading to the new evo 212 plate as you can see by looking at the two pictures, one being the original existing cpu, cooler suppot plate, and the other being the evo support plate.

Looking at other motherboards with the cpu support plate fitted to the back side of the motherboard to avoid strain on it due to large and heavy air coolers the plate is about 1mm thick.
So the evo 212 can fit over the existing plate using the four pads that are raised so the other plate has the three threads on it used to keep the top side of the cpu socket locking cradle together.

Basicaly I need a plate so the three screws can thread into and clamp for the cpu locking mechanism to keep it together if you get what I mean.

Did you try screwing D-screws into backplate of your motherboard.
May be they fit and you don't need to use backplate of evo 212?

The D screws will not thread into the four threaded corners of the existing back support plate currently fitted to the motherboard as it stands because the thread size on the D screws/ hexagon spacers are the wrong thread type the thread or diameter of them is too large to be able to thread them.

That's too bad.
May be you can get some broken lga1155 motherboard and reuse it's support plate?

Never mind, I had enough and just bought a GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD3-B3, LGA 1155/Socket H2, Intel board from ebay in working condition.

It was likely since the I5 was a second gen I5 2500K, the cheap motherboard they use in pre built system such as HP produce to keep costs down for themselves while charging for it over priced as a complete system build.

The board was not capable of even overclocking the I5 2500K cpu anyway Skynetrising.
Since I got the I5 2500K cpu as a give away I cannot complain really can I.

And it`s a decent motherboard the GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD3-B3, LGA 1155/Socket H2, Intel Motherboard isn`t it ?
