I have a HP Pavilion G7 1365dx with an AMD A6 3420m APU, socket FS1, 35 TDP. I was wondering if I can upgrade my CPU to somewhere maybe an A10. If not, can I upgrade to an A8 MX edition, like 3530MX. It has 45 TDP, will that make a difference? My current temp at max load is about 100 F. What is the best FS1 (not FS1r2) CPU that my laptop can take?

Unfortunately I don't specialise with AMD processors, and haven't been keeping myself up to date with AMD; therefore I may not be able to provide the best of assistance. However, before you dig into upgrading your laptop; you must first ensure you can replace your current processor, as many laptop manufacturers don't allow you to upgrade (open up your laptop and see if the processor is replaceable, remember to ensure safety).

If you can upgrade your processor, firstly let me start by saying you cannot upgrade to an A10 processor, as none exists on socket FS1. However with research I found that Socket FS1 was only used for a short period of time, therefore there are a limited amount of processors for that socket. These all physical fit...

However with research I found that Socket FS1 was only used for a short period of time, therefore there are a limited amount of processors for that socket. These all physical fit in the socket:

A4-3305M
A4-3300M
A4-3320M
A4-3310MX
A4-3330MX
A4-3330MX
A6-3400M
A6-3420M
A6-3410MX
A6-3430MX
A8-3500M
A8-3520M
A8-3510MX
A8-3530MX
A8-3550MX
E2-3000M
E2-3000M

However you need to consider other factors, mainly the TDP. I've never attempted to upgrade a 35w to a 45w CPU; I usually stay with the same TDP, but if you're willing to experiment, you're free to do so. As I did state I'm not too much of a specialist in AMD, using benchmarks I have decided which would be a better upgrade for you.

AMD A8-3520M is a safe, yet best in performance upgrade for you; as it's the same socket, quad-core, same microarchitecture + platform, but not only so, it has the same TDP (35w) and requires the same amount of volts are your current CPU.
