HP Laptop Issues

I am looking at a buddies laptop and it freezes after a certain amount of time with normal and safe mode.

Ran HP run-in test and it failed short DST test.

Ran hard disk test in Bios and it passed.

Ran chkdsk and it passed.

It has Windows 7 64 bit and I ran some cleaners so I am lost on what is happening. Seems like there is some type of hardware issue but maybe not. It is the HP G42-415DX.

Back up important info and then warranty or replace the harddrive.

Is it odd that it only failed that test or no? Not even sure what the short DST test is
