HP laptop screen problem

My old HP piece of crap laptop has been like this for a while. When I turn on the PC the screen is white. I have to hit the back of the screen for it to come on, but it usually just shows a bunch of scratchy versions of what it should be. After a while though it works until I move the screen.
The only times I use this laptop is when I travel, because I don't transport my gaming tower.
Now the problem has gotten worse. It works for like 2 seconds then the screen changes to pink and nothing works.
Does anyone know what this problem could be or how to fix it for good?
I need to know soon because I am going to the beach for a month and I need a computer for video editing and such.

Hi, try an external monitor, if the picture on the external monitor is good, remove the bezel and take out the screen from the lid, verify the connector for the screen if it's connected as it should.
