HP Laptop screen won't turn on?

I put up a thread recently about my HP Laptop Pavilion dv7-6113cl. I wanted to upgrade my processor. However, when I put the new AMD A8-3500M in, the laptop screen stays black. When I put in the old processor the screen turns on. What could be my problem?

I'm not sure, if I don't how do I find out? And if I don't, how do I install it?

In the previous thread I explain how my HDD failed and this is why I thought about upgrading my CPU. Can I update BIOS without my previous HDD?
