hp laptop win 7 sometimes fails to boot.

Thanks in advance for the help. My win 7 laptop HP G42 sometimes fails to boot. When this happens, the caps lock light flashes. Screen is black. I don't hear the hard drive running. Don't hear anything at all running, just the flashing light on caps lock. It may take several days of trying to boot, before it will finally boot, and all is well, until next time. Win 7 Home Premium, AMD Athlon II P340 dual core processor. 3 gb ram, If you need any other info, let me know. Thanks again.

Known HP low quality power regulator or failing GPU / motherboard.
Not much to do except change the mobo.
