Ok, so I have an HP Pavilion DV7 which last week started to give the single Caps & Num Lock blinking code every 2-3 seconds at startup. Checked the code at HP's website and it means "CPU Failure", doing some research I found that it also could be a fried motherboard.
The strange thing is that sometimes (after like 20 tries) it shows a BIOS/CMOS error and it gives the option to load default settings, after that, Windows starts normally. Sometimes it freezes at the Windows spinner/loading icon. If Windows successfully boots and the system is restarted or shut down, the blinking code is back again.
What could it be?
I have to admit that my laptop was overheated in the past.
I tried removing the HDD, battery, CMOS battery, swapping RAM to other slots. I even slapped the notebook top.
Thanks in advance
