HP Laptop won\'t turn on

Today when I got to work my 1 month old HP 2000 notebook would not come to life. I finally took out the battery and after the second attempt, it booted up. I was getting nothing prior to the 2nd battery removal. It was plugged in to a wall outlet overnight at home, was on when I woke this morning. It is just shy of a month old - any suggestions on why it would not turn on at all without a battery removal?

After removing the battery (and I assume removing AC power) the first time did you hold the power button for about 10 seconds to ensure everything was flushed? I've seen this before on HP laptops, but never where two battery removals were needed when the power button was held. Just thinking if you did not do this it may not have fully cleared the issue the first time.
