So here is the problem, I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, which has drivers for everything I need BUT the printer, which is a HP Laserjet 1000.

When I connect it to the computer, it says it can not find the drivers and that I must go onto HP's website to search for those drivers. The problem is, HP website, and I have searched, does not have drivers for my printer, and from what they say, do not plan on making drivers for my printer for Win 7?

I have searched high and low for a solution to get my printer to work, even tried installing the virtual Windows XP onto my computer, but no results. My printer still works great, and I refuse to give into what I believe is HP trying to make me purchase another printer. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

did you try this version of the drivers? > ... http://www.bioticaindia.com/hp-laserjet-1000-series.html

A solution I found to print to the HP laserjet 1000 from a Windows 7 machine over a network.

The problem is that the driver on the XP machine is not the same name as the driver installed on the Windows 7 machine. If you choose the option to install a networked printer you are not permitted to manually choose the driver.

The work-around is to create a local printer on the Windows 7 machine using a Local Port. When prompted, type in the name and path of the printer on the XP machine - \\ComputerName\PrinterName. Then, when prompted for a driver, choose the one that worked when the 1012 was connected directly to the Windows 7 machine's USB port (in my case it's the MS version of the LaserJet 3055 PCL5.)

I tried that link you posted but was unable to download the file. I tried to make two accounts but never received the activation email from them. I also tried to just download through the "send the file" system, but I never received that link either. Any suggestions?

That is the correct website, but if click further, then you will see that there is no driver posted on there.

Is 'cause you printer is a little old. Maybe you can't install on Win 7 x64, the other posibility could be that you use the Vista x64 driver, but, this neither exist.

Hello everyone trying to get the Laserjet 1000 working on Windows 7 64 bit.

Normally I would just carry on with my work once I have found a fix but have changed my mind as I am hoping karma will shine a light down on me for sharing a fix.

Install virtual pc available from microsoft xp mode. Basically the way it works is the virtual pc gets installed on your win 7 64bit computer as a program. Once you open virtual pc xp mode - install drivers like you normally would. And there you have a working Laserjet 1000. It definately worked for me. Shaun d ' ' b
