Hp laserjet 2600n door open error

After cleaning the laser mirrors and reassembling the printer, there is an error message "Door Open". I have checked to ensure the switch is free and working but no joy. How do i resolve the issue and get the printer working again.

Maybe the switch is not fully being reset. Placing a small cardboard shim (spacer) on the switch actuator will remedy things.
