The printer is telling me i need to replace the fuser. The fuser costs as much as the printer. Can I just keep using the fuser?

Yes, right up to the point that it fails. At that point you may wind up having to replace the printer. There's a reason the manufacturer set a limit on the life of that particular component. You would do well to follow the recommendation.

If the fuser is really the cost of the printer, the correct thing to do is just buy a new printer, but that fuser looks to be under $300 while the printer is $700 for the cheapest version.
