I have a "salvaged memory from a "major crashed" HP Laptop" ... MT16KTF1G64HZ-1G6E1 8GB 2RX8 PC3L-12800S BARCODE: CT:RDAXE7FM1441LY. Is it possible to use this memory in either the Acer Aspire E-17 (even though it maxes out at an additional 4G on the unit I have). Or, the Acer Aspire 5253-BZ602?

I "tried it in the 5253 and it got HOT ... so I unplugged the module and everything works as before.

Solution
1| There are a number of E17's KSu's around. Which one do you have?
2| The ram you have from your damaged system is an 8GB stick of DDR3L 1600MHz.
3| The second laptop you've listed actually accepts DDR3 1066MHz of up to 8GB's. This means that with 2 slots available you'll be able to populate 2x4GB sticks and be able to continue computing. The issue with your ram is that it's DDR3L which runs off of 1.35v of power while the ram your laptop needs will be 1.5v i.e it's not going to be possible to run on that either.
