Question HP Omen 15-dc1058wm Drive Replacement

I'm trying to add storage to my brothers HP Omen, but there is a drive already in the 2.5 inch drive space. The laptop specifications read that the computer ONLY has a NVMe M.2 drive, which is there. What is this 2.5 inch drive? Is it a placeholder of sorts? Just plastic? Thanks!
