Hi,

Does anyone know where on earth the LCD cable is on here? Longs story short, my laptop screen broke. I want to completely remove the screen & be able to use my secondary screen as my primary. However, if I take out the original matrix I get a black screen after initial omen logo load, in order to get the screen to show up on my external monitor I either: Have to start windows in safe boot or connect the broken LCD to it. So I assume I just need to disconnect the LCD cable from the motherboard in order for the system to stop trying to use it.

Laptop: 15-dc1003nw OMEN 15

EDIT: I found it, it was under the heatsink. But now the laptop won't turn on!! Hmmmm

Oh. It's a laptop.

One end of the lcd screen cable is attached to the screen. You need to trace it as to where it goes in your laptop.

Your laptop - https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06271108
doesn't have a GPU.
It has a display port and a mini displayport that you can connect to an external monitor.
But you'd need to use your laptop screen to do that.

Already resolved.
I had to take the heatsink and some other components out in order to disconnect the LCD cable. The laptop cannot be used without the screen connected as it will not POST confirmed by hp themselves. So I cannot infact use the laptop with an external monitor if I haven't got the cables connected to something on both ends which is just a total shame. I wish I could just take out the original screen and still use the laptop with an external monitor. So painful. I cannot find that LCD cable for purchase ANYWHERE
