Hello There,

I have found a HP OMEN 30L Model #: GT13-0092

Item Link: HP OMEN 30L GT13-0092

The PC is being sold on Offerup for a $1,000, Also the seller claims the PC is "New" and never been opened or used".

I am curious to know if this was a scam or did I find a good deal?

-Thanks,

N1nja

Hard to say for certain based on what we can see on the web link.
They say unopened, but dont show the bottom seal (but who would?)
If its unopened, they wont let you open it to test it out. Could be DOA and repacked, who knows?
Also, that listing has been live for 11 months. With the way component prices have been the last year, why has it been up for that long without someone buying?

If you trust their buyer protection, take the risk. But its just that, a risk.

I did plan on building a PC that sports everything else that the HP OMEN had, just in case if that deal fell through...

i9 10850k
Z590 LGA 1200 Mobo
32GB DDR4,
Nvidia RTX 3080
and 750W PSU (I think an RTX 3080 + 10850k can run off of that)?
500GB m.2 SSD along with a 2TB SSD

Also I plan to message the seller to find out more details... About the PC

Why would you go with an Intel 10 gen setup for a new build? btw you want an 850w psu for the RTX 3080.

I thought about an 11th gen series CPU but I chose the 10th (10850k) gen i9 for "future-proofing" purposes... Also didn't the 11th gen CPUs tend to run hot and perform worse than 10700k. Plus I wanted the 10850k because it's the underdog to the 10900k (which has the same core and thread count,10 core/20 thread) and is marginally cheaper than a i9 11900k (only by 86 percent) and this would be a backup/replacement for my 4770k.

The 10850K is going for $350 atm and then you want a Z490 board for that cpu and those don't run cheap. For less money you can build a 12 gen setup that will mudhole the 10850K.

I would be skeptical given the price and the amount of time it's been up. The Chicago area code for a Seattle sale could totally be legit, but it's also just another thing that COULD be suspicious. I'm guessing that after contact, there's another shoe to drop, like payment in a format in which you lose buyer protection or a scam in which the seller expects to dummy up better documentation about YOUR supposed fraud after you file for protection.

I have my skepticism's about that listing.... I think I want to build a PC that features a 10850k and or a 2080Ti or 3060Ti (the 2080Ti is cheaper than a 3070 and performs better) and I've had my mind set on a 10850k because of what it brings to the table... but I am unsure of what GPU to pair with the 10850k.

I picked the Z590 Motherboard over the Z490 Motherboards because of the difference in RAM speed I'd rather have 3,200 MHz over 2,933 MHz

Before anyone asks I do plan on building a 12700k + 3070 Ti PC too but the Buttcoin miners shot down my idea....

People are talking about 12th gen CPUs, not 11th gen. A 12700(K) will curb stop any of the CPUs you just listed and will probably be cheaper and more futureproof as well because newer, higher IPC, clocks, and core count with the same amount of threads. Heck, the 12600K will likely stomp those CPUs with less cores and threads... good, affordable Z690 boards start at around 190$. A 80$ air cooler will keep a 12700K nice and chill, for the 12600K, a 45$ is sufficient (as well as for the 12700K if all you want to do is gaming...). Also, that GPU would like a 850W PSU, the 3070Ti is the one that is fine with 750W.

That offering, meanwhile, looks kinda shady to me. I would be very weary.

I think I'll avoid that listing.... seems fishy to me

Ugh, yeah... got thay system in February, the card was insanely expensive x.x
Unfortunately, I needed it since my old computer went to my parents and needed the old card. Still, it's a really good card for 1440p, so I'm kinda cool with it. Good news are, things do seem to get better slowly, or you could opt for the new 4060 if you can wait and it's good, which I assume it will be. Or a good Radeon card. Provided there will be stock at reasonable prices, that is...

Edit: on the upside, I can vow for this being an awesome combo in 1440p, very happy with it!

If any one was curious this was what I was hoping to get for this PC: PC PartPicker List - Excluded the GPU (too keep price down) But was hoping to get a 2080 Ti since the performance between a 3070 Ti and a 2080 Ti is nearly identical... A 3060 Ti was also in for consternation as well
The 12700 / 12700F will run circles around that cpu and do it for cheaper. btw what's with the two sets of RAM? A single set of 2x16GB is more than enough. You don't need a separate OS drive. A single 2TB SSD will work fine.

I guess I wasn't telling the truth. This was a PC that I was going to build/buy after I got my 12700k + 3070 Ti PC built... and could have when my 12700k/3070 Ti PC goes down (Insert X reason why the Main PC dies) but I still need access to a PC....
