HP Omni 120 for Gaming?

Hey guys, I need some 'assistance with my computer as it doesn't properly work well.

I have an HP Omni 120 All-in-One PC from my old property from last year. I recently recovered it so I have something to use while I fix my current custom gaming rig. Whenever I play Minecraft or even if I'm not playing it, the PC suffers from major lag spikes and always slows down.

I had many applications before but I just uninstalled them. My PC went a little faster but not much of a difference, could a malware be possible?

P.S I had Norton Anti-VIrus but I deleted it just now which made my PC much faster and even with the anti-virus, my PC was still slow.

SPECS:

Processor: AMD E2-1800 APU
RAM: 4GB
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7300 series graphics
I believe AMD is great at graphics cards but not with processors but I don't know.

I think it is malware running processes on your pc.

how to fix-
1.right click on taskbar
2.open task manager
3.close all "BACKGROUND PROCESSES"

First the APU is made for low power, low cost, and LOW DEMANDS (i.e. checking facebook / netflix) not as comparable as your custom rig (built for gaming). So no I wouldn't even bother with it for gaming (BF4, AC4, etc.).

That said the problem you presented (different then the Title question) do the basics:

Remove whatever AV your using and go to www.filehippo.com and download AVAST! or AVG and do a full system scan - this repeatedly has resolved alot of people issue relying on MS Essentials.

Download Malwarebytes do a full system scan (AV doesn't pick up alot of malware) - this resolved almost ALL other similiar posts to date as most had Malware the AV didn't pick up.

Repeat the AV/Malware scans till the system comes up clean.

Did you install all Windows Updates? Including options except BING? Check them and repeat till ALL are installed.

Download and run Slim Drivers, install all the latest updates but you don't need to reboot until you do the last update

Spay canned air into the vents (it is a All-In-One so like a laptop not able to take apart) and use a paint brush on them to get out the dust bunnies.

To Tom Tacredi: I will try downloading these files. Before, I never liked to download any anti-virus, etc. because sometimes they are the one causing the virus and as a developer, I can't use an AV because it marks all my files as a virus (Like .jar files) giving me more problems. I usually use the firewall from Windows but it doesn't really prevent malware.

Also, can I remove the AV after its fixed?

Uhm hold on. You seem a bit confused on each layer of 'defense'. While a firewall with NAT can protect worm spreading (your talking 20 years ago tech now) from general, find device connected to internet, infect device; that is all a firewall does by blocking the most likely ports. When access any sites, even legitimate ones, virus code can be in the Jar files, the actual photo images, even in video streams now, so you need a Antivirus to protect against the billions upon billions of variations. Malware is different that it doesn't 'damage' files or corrupt them as in the case a viral attack (think of malware as telephone solicitors and viruses like cancer), they are only going to persuade you (social engineering) to do something the program intends, be it turn OFF your AV, buy thier 'fix' which actually causes your system to attack other systems (botting), or to just get your information (Credit Card # address etc for the 'purchase' of a fix' then turns into them fraudulently using your CC). So a weekly scan with Malwarebytes manually run (or buy the package for automated scans) will reduce this problem that Antivirus can't "See" because they don't see damaging attacks.

That said, it is a fact any computer, even with a firewall, accessible to the Internet has been timed to last just 10 minutes before being infected. EVEN if fully patched.

That said, there is a myriad of antivirus software out there, and as a developer you know some is good programming some is bad. Your jar files should NEVER have the marks of a virus, or the 'user' of your code will also suffer this problem when they need to use your developed product. So that would be a change on your skill set to match the current business field, instead of expecting the the field to change to what you produce. If you have a developer machine connected to the Internet then you need to have antivirus on it, and antimalware, that is just a fact. EVEN a sneaker-net based isolated system is NOT safe from viruses (have you ever heard of STUXNET? If not read up). If there is any input interactions (connect USB, insert software, etc.) there is always a way for viruses to enter. EVEN big name developer AutoDesk had one infect the GOLD Disk as they went to production, costing the company millions as the very expensive software had to be 'recalled' and reissued after infecting many systems worldwide.

I recommend AVG and AVAST! as both are free, highly reputable, have low 'impact' on a user's system, and most of all are very successful in stopping viruses. In both cases specific directories can be set to ignore as well, but you be foolish to ignore all JAR files, as that would also include any from the Internet causing your system to be back here having problems again. Like any software you can 'remove it' but that would be like leaving removing your wallet and just laying the cash on the side of the street and believe no one will ever 'steal' it. It just isn't' logical.

wow, you seem to know a lot. I downloaded AVG and my computer is clean, no viruses. I clicked on the Performance Boost to speed up my PC so I'm waiting for that.

Thanks for your answer, also I have this one really weird thing with my mouse. It can only interact with either Windows (explorer.exe, Documents, taskbar, etc.) and not with the applications (Minecraft, AVG, Google Chrome etc.) but when I remove the battery and reinsert it, the mouse is able to interact with the applications but not with Windows..? I don't get this, this mouse worked perfectly with my Macbook

You still need to do a FULL scan (note on AVG or Malwarebytes defaults on QUICK scan, you have to SELECT FULL scan) with Malwarebytes. As mentioned AVG wont' pickup malware because if it isn't 'attacking or damaging' the system it can't see it as a threat.

What happens when you used a wired mouse? Some rare cases, some mice / devices bought for Apple products are 'incompatible' with Windows based system. While this is rarer these days (usually you need to download a specific driver /software from the maker to resolve it) it still happens. Wireless mice are unreliable, as if the battery is inconsistently powering the mouse (aka weak battery) you can have random results. Also try to replace the battery with a new one and see if there is any differences.
