Question HP P600 SSD performance question

Hello, everyone

I just bought HP P600 SSD and immediately tried to check its performance using Crystal Disk Mark. The SSD is supposed to be very fast and HP claims the following:

Max. sequential read speed - 560 MB/s

Max. sequential write speed - 490 MB/s

Sounds very sweet (even compared to T5) and some reviewers tests basically confirmed these parameters. See, for example:

https://www.legitreviews.com/hp-portable-ssd-p600-review_206578/2

However the results I got are somehow significantly lower:

Its even less than 500 MB/s!

I tested it with:
System : Windows.Desktop X64 10.0.17763.529
DeviceName : Surface Book Microsoft Corporation (1st gen)

I know several factors contribute to the speed test and maybe my Surface Book is not just powerful enough. Or maybe SSD is faulty? What do you think?

No, but the laptop does have USB 3.0. As far as I know USB 3.0 has bitrate of 625 MB/s, so it should not have affected the speed test results.

Or am I wrong?

Thank you! Another small question.

In real data transfer tests I did the actual speed was like 200 - 250 MB/s at the highest (lasts only seconds usually). Sometimes it jumps to 200 MB/s, sometimes it drops to like 300 kB/s or even lower. Is this normal?

Then again, If I have a USB 3.0 on my laptop which is capable of 625 MB/s, why do I get only 420 MB/s?

Can someone explain please? And why is the actual speed even lower?
