Hp pavilion 15-E motherboard

Hi , today i replaced a Motherboard on a friend hp pavilion 15-e but he ordered the wrong model , but I replaced anyway but some minutes later the laptop runs the fan too fast and shuts off . Can the wrong motherboard model be the cause ??
